Karen was born and raised in Corning NY. At the age of fourteen, Karen found a way of expressing her inner emotions through the world of art. As a child, she grew up watching her mother paint in oil, and recognized her inner peace. Painting allowed her an escape from the everyday noise. Karen began exploring her own voice when she was in high school and was soon recognized as having a gift. Karen was offered an opportunity to study at New Paltz University where she spent her first year exploring a variety of media and leaning how her work could come to life. Moved by music, she often spent hours creating based on how the music moved her.
Unable to afford continuing her college dream, Karen returned to Corning and found herself fascinated by the human figure. As a gift from her sister, Karen had an opportunity to take formal classes focusing on the fine art of modeling the classical bust in clay with world renowned French sculptor, Philippe Faraut. " The experience was a once in a lifetime venture". Several years later, Karen decided to study in the field of medicine where she achieved her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Karen now works full-time as a Director of Nursing and spends her evenings and weekends in her studio.
Compelled by the desire to express her inner beauty, strength and peace, she offers you pieces from a variety of media. Instrumental music is always played as her artwork is being created to this day. She is currently working in oils with a technique she discovered after countless hours pushing the media to its limits. Her works of art are captivating. Her continued desire to explore the three dimensional figurative form has resulted in award winning pieces that now can only be viewed in a photo.
